Ray Maxwell Thornton, Sr.
Ray Maxwell Thornton, Sr., 77, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at Candler Hospital.
The Alabama native had lived in Savannah for the past fifty years. Mr. Thornton served his country in the Coast Guard and was in the finance industry for over forty years before retiring from Security Finance. He was in the Marine Rescue Squadron 7A in Richmond Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Pittman Thornton.
Survivors include a son, Ray M. Thornton, Jr. of Richmond Hill, GA; a daughter, Eva Lynn Loomis of Savannah; two brothers, Lamar Thornton of Montgomery, AL and Ralph Thornton of Mobile, AL; two sisters, Virginia Maddox and Christine Wilson both of Montgomery, AL; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, June 23, 2006 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006 in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park West.
